I know this is technically a food book, but you can’t deny the fact that eating healthy is one of the best ways to look and feel your best. Eat Pretty Live Well will show you how when you eat nutritious food, your skin will start to look better, you have more energy, and you feel much better about yourself.

Chris Scott is an incredible artist, and his book, Face with A Heart: Mastering Authentic Beauty Makeup, is a fantastic read. After all, he’s really the father of the contour and highlight trend as we know it. The Art of Makeup Can Be Studied: We've offered a few criticisms here, but that's not to say it isn't an excellent book. If you're interested in a career in makeup artistry---as opposed to just learning a few new ideas---this is an excellent choice. In Kattie Middleton’s book, she helps professionals and beginners train their eyes to understand and recognize distinctions in color. Since everyone has different skin tones and undertones, understanding how color theory is applied to makeup can really help you step up your game.

Classic Beauty is a bit more comprehensive than Face Paint, and I consider it to be a great reference book. It shows how history has molded accepted beauty rituals and patterns and the changes in cosmetics over the years. I don’t know about you, but I find that kind of thing SO fascinating! Last, but not least, here’s my favorite makeup book of all times: Be Your Own Makeup Artist . I am so proud to have written and published this book, and am SO honored that it has made it’s way into cosmetology school curriculum. This is a highly rated, informative, must-have makeup book for your collection. 3. Face Paint: The Story of Makeup by Lisa Eldridge You will learn how to mix flesh tones using only primary colors, you’ll find out the reason for variations in skin colors and undertones, and you’ll be able to identify flattering shades for the eyes, lips, and cheeks for all skin tones. I really feel that anyone who wants to learn more about color theory and how it affects the quality of your makeup should own this book. On top of that, the book also features an awesome 40-day food diary that you can use to start living your most beautiful life as well as a bunch of fun charts and lists to fill out, prompts for self-reflection, recipe cards, de-stressing techniques, sleep tips, and more. It’s fantastic!

How to actually start a business---the forms you'll need to fill out, and the business plans you'll need to prepare; A lot of the books on the list above show you completed looks and explain in text how to accomplish these ‘looks’. I teach you how to select the right products for you and where to apply them (through graphs) The book itself is fantastic. So many makeup books look fantastic, but don't have any real substance. Chris Scott's book not only discusses various techniques, it provides step-by-step guidance on how to take care of your skin, prime lips and eyes and apply stains and shadows, and form a makeup strategy using model's various facial shapes. Chris supplements the book with a set of super-helpful how-to videos here. But, Kidd can teach you that. With her easy way of breaking down top trends, color theory, and ways to shape your face however you want, her looks will give you that transformative quality you might be looking for. Make-Up Designory's Beauty Make-Up is pretty straight-forward---base, brows, eyes, cheeks, lips---but it includes sections on applying makeup to mature models, applying makeup via airbrush, and working with brides. You get the sense that they borrowed from their live classes to write the book, and that's a good thing. There's a (very) small chapter on actually working in the beauty biz, but it's not long enough for us to include it in our section titled... Makeup Artist Money Manual: A Simple, Step-by-step Guide to Your Long Lasting, Lucrative Career in Wedding Makeup Artistry, by Theresa Amundsen For better or worse, this book feels like a textbook---something that you might have to read in school. So, it may be a little less seductive than makeup books that feature colorful images and beautiful models. BUT. The subject matter is something you love, so it's probably an easier read.The course explores many topics: makeup techniques, career options, skincare, makeup tools, applying foundation and concealer, eyeliner techniques and more. We present a series of demonstrations featuring a professional makeup artist and a model to help you master the practical application of cosmetics and beauty techniques, including: mascara and eyeliner, eyebrow grooming, lip makeup, foundation and concealer, corrective makeup, contouring and building eyelashes. Barnes followed up About Face’s success with Face to Face, another equally tantalizing makeup tutorial featuring the incomparable, Kim Kardashian, on the cover. Anyway, the Marchioness of Douro writes a pretty good book about makeup. She goes deep on a lot of topics that many cosmetics books ignore, and discusses makeup for various skin tones (porcelain, fair, light olive, dark olive, and deep), age (she splits it up into teen to early 20s, mid 20s to 30s, mid 30s to 40s, 40 to 50, 50 to 60, and 60 and beyond), and the facial shape. She then goes into different looks AND how to work different looks in different light (ie, daytime, nighttime, flash photography, and so on).
