About this deal

Whilst this is a story of three women trying to get revenge on a man who’s been playing them all, it’s also so much deeper than that. So, to conclude, I really enjoyed this funny and entertaining novel, filled with realistic characters, set in my favourite city and full of twists and surprises.

She can't confess her lie, but comes up with a plan to 'meet' Ant in real life without revealing their online connection. Her Sunday Times bestselling books - Getting Rid of Matthew, Got You Back, Foursome, The Ugly Sister, Skeletons, Strictly Between Us, My Sweet Revenge, Faking Friends, Tell Me a Secret, Queen Bee, Worst Idea Ever, Just Got Real and Over Sharing - have sold over a million copies in the UK. I think I was waiting for a big twist, and whilst twists did come, they weren’t as shocking as I was expecting. This is a wonderful read, hilarious, witty and emotional all in one bundle of online dating and finding new friends. Het idee van dit verhaal is natuurlijk superleuk, maar voor mij kwam er eigenlijk geen enkele verrassing.

The Queen of the revenge dramedy is back with a hilarious, fun and wicked romance that will tickle the funny bone and satisfy the soul. The story is told from Joni’s perspective mostly, she is the one who is trying to expose what Ant is up to. Three middle-aged women try online dating and are conned by a guy who is dating all of them at the same time. That made the first third of the book feel quite slow to me because it was essentially setting the scene of Joni’s life and her relationship with Ant. Jane's skillful use of razor sharp dialogue really brings every character to life, and makes the scenes so vivid.I kept reading because I was mildly interested to see how it would all turn out, but I can't honestly say I enjoyed it. I thought it was also such a gorgeous look at loneliness and making friends as an adult, which can feel so daunting. Jane Fallon is the multi-award-winning television producer behind shows such as This Life, Teachers and 20 Things to Do Before You're 30. It was great to read a story about romance and friendship in women who were not in their 20s for a change. More than anything though, I think I just found Joni and her life really relatable, and I enjoyed all the details of her life, her flat, her job and her love of the gym.

Rather than confess her lie, she hatches a plan to 'meet' Ant in real life without revealing who she really is. She then concocts a plan, to accidentally meet Ant in real life without revealing who she really is. I’ve read all of the British author’s novels and love her or hate her she certainly makes an impact in the book world with her clever, contemporary, disloyalty fiction and I simply love them. Uiteindelijk leert ze hem kort daarna 'spontaan' in het echt kennen, zonder dat hij weet dat ze al eerder met elkaar op de datingapp hebben gesproken. Some characters’ decisions had me baffled but it just proved how gullible and naive some women can be.There are two main themes that Fallon explores which are middle aged dating, which for some reason, at my ripe 28 years, I’ve always loved reading about, and she also explores friendship through the dynamics of Joni, Saffy and Mary. What’s not to love about a plot where three women form a friendship as they plot their revenge on a conman who tries to scam them out of thousands of pounds!

When happily divorced Joni is reluctantly talked into joining a dating app, she is surprised to quickly hit it off with Ant. Once she and Ant are an item, however, it's soon clear that the only thing Ant was honest about was his profile picture.I appreciate that the plot is very current off the back of shows like Catfish and The Tinder Swindler, but it just didn’t capture my interest like I thought it would. Her Sunday Times bestselling books – Getting Rid of Matthew, Got You Back, Foursome, The Ugly Sister, Skeletons, Strictly Between Us, My Sweet Revenge, Faking Friends, Tell Me a Secret, Queen Bee, Worst Idea Ever and Just Got Real – have sold over a million copies in the UK. Joni is the real central character, and very easy to warm to (and relate to in many ways, apart from the gym 🤣), but I also fell for sweet widow Mary, and gobby Saffy with a heart of gold. Normaal gesproken komt Jane altijd met een heel sterk plot, maar dat ontbrak deze keer voor mijn gevoel.
