Because it's synthetic it doesn't give off that immediate 'ugh' reaction, and I can see how some people could perhaps interpret it as sour or lemon-cleaner like, in that synthetic bathroom cleaner type.

Montale’s wood and spices I’m sure has apple and rose because I can pickup other notes in this fragrance that another Montale has such as starry nights. Clearly a bit overrated scent, it dries down in a woodsy spicy - sweet type of fragrance, I smelled better Sandalwood + spices based fragrances like Xerjoff - Ivory route. The comparisons to Fleur de Male, Sculpture, and Bogart Silver Scent make a lot more sense once you know there is orange blossom dominating this scent. I love wood and spices, but I can not smell wood and spices , just vetiver and powder, Like a vintage cheap cologne, I am so disappointed. I can smell a little bit of oud too, it's a synthetic oud, and not the tar, bitter smelling kind, this is the more sweet, funky, animalic, barnyard smelling oud.For example, some top note citrus scents smell stronger immediately upon application, while a lavender middle note may be sensed after some time from application as the top note evaporates. It's a dry fragrance that has almost no sweetness, though it is surprisingly versatile for me, having worn it in all but the warmest weather. Honestly if you're looking for a fresh scent, there's so many designers that do this exact style of fragrance way better.

First you can perceive a very intense fresh tingling lemony - fruity note, which brings very soft, very discreetly powdery traits with it and I first typed on mandarin and mint, orange blossom and pepper also came to my mind but when I smell a little "more", it is almost silky traits in already sweet beer-like and I finally arrived at juniper berry, which is not entirely unlike the smell of pimento. It has year-round and unisex wearability, reminiscent a little bit of Versace The Dreamer in terms of the creamier, sharp woodsy dry down, but I can't really draw many worthwhile comparisons. The sour note eventually resolves into something resembling citrus, but only in the way a cheap room air freshener does.Just like Versace Dreamer and Nicolai’s Patchouli Intense, there’s a strong, sour soapy note that goes very wrong on me, like a cleaning agent gone bad. I don’t know if the guys hovering over the cauldron hadn’t showered in a while and sweat into the batch or what happened. It does start out sweet and does smell like Nikos Sculpture but only in passing and then the pleasant sweetness stays way in the background while the "urine-like" note seems to be pushing forward. I bought the Montale deluxe discovery set and I am on the fence with a few of them and kind of like some of the others. In perspective, I should raise my ratings of all other Montale's, as this one is really the worst of them all.

When I looked at the note pyramid, I was expecting an uber-masculine alpha male scent that is unmistakably for men. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag.

Too me this smells like an unripe green banana mixed with some cheap aquatic notes, seriously stomach turning.

I'm finding a full spray can be a lot different than the sample which you apply with the applicator stick. This fragrance will probably get you attention I don’t see anyone hating on this fragrance it just smells warm and clean.

It is a pumped up dunhill desire blue accord that opens, and keeps getting sweeter and obnoxiously CLOYING. This lean more towards an older generation's cologne; very punchy in the opening and smooths out with time. This is not a case of enjoying a guilty pleasure in the privacy of one's own home and them journeying out once the drydown has arrived.
