About this deal

Talbot Rothwell was busy with other writing commitments when approached by Rogers for another holiday-based Carry On, so Dave Freeman was enlisted to complete the screenplay for what would become the 27th film in the series. Carry On is a British comedy franchise comprising 31 films, four Christmas specials, a television series and stage shows produced between 1958 and 1992. A second attempt at Carry On Again Nurse came in 1979, after the series left Rank Films and moved to Hemdale. It isn’t long before the luckless passengers mix with the hopeless crew to raise titanic laughs on the ship of fools. Some more but not all of the remaining films have been upgraded to HD but they are exclusive to the Britbox streaming service.

There were thirty-one films, four TV Christmas specials, one television series of thirteen episodes, and three West End and provincial stage plays, [3] all made on time and to a strict budget. These are REGION 2 (UK-Europe) discs and will NOT play on standard DVD players, but play well on multi-region upscaling players. In Tom Holt's eighth Portable Door novel When It's a Jar (2013) the Carrion franchise offers a "uniquely quirky blend of spatterfest zombie horror and traditional British slapstick-and-innuendo comedy" with titles such as Carrion Nursing, Carrion Camping and Carrion Up the Khyber. Again, Rogers was not keen and asked Norman Hudis to adapt a film script from a short story written by Eric Barker based on a group of holiday makers on a cruise in the Mediterranean. That Mitchell and Webb Look features the sketch "Bawdy 1970s Hospital", which portrays a stereotypical Carry On-style hospital with frequent use of double entendre, except by one doctor who has trouble fitting in as he comes out with simple obscenity, unable to understand the distinction. The Carry Ons comprise the largest number of films of any British series and, next to the James Bond films, are the second-longest continually-running UK film series (with a fourteen-year hiatus between 1978 and 1992). To accommodate him, Thomas trimmed the role down to entice Williams to join the cast, but he again refused. Gerald Thomas was eager to cast Kenneth Williams, but Williams turned the role down owing to theatre commitments.

By doing so I actually came across the original creator of the caricatures that are featured in the 'Best of British' section of the magazines. Since 2013, StudioCanal has released a number of the Carry On films on Blu-ray, beginning with Carry On Screaming! Satirising the Space Race, the cast was to consist of three would-be astronauts who constantly bungled on their training and their mission into outer space; most likely the trio would have been played by the trio of Kenneth Williams, Kenneth Connor, and Leslie Phillips that had been established in Carry On Constable. In 1969, the UK television channel ITV televised a Christmas special recorded by Thames Television; entitled Carry On Christmas, it was watched by over eight million viewers. Owing to the pressure of producing a quality script in a limited amount of time, Rothwell was forced to retire halfway through the script's draft after suffering an attack of nervous exhaustion. The part then went to the Scottish comedian Jimmy Logan in what was to become his second Carry On engagement.

The legendary Carry On… film series is back on DVD in this special collection bringing together all 30 films!Carry On Henry's pre-production title was "Anne of a Thousand Lays" – and was as the title suggested; a parody of the Richard Burton film Anne of the Thousand Days (1969). In this send up of the Hammer Horror movies, there are pastiches of all the horror greats from Frankenstein to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Clips from several Carry On films are used in In The Movies It Doesn't Hurt (1975), a short film on laboratory safety for schools starring Bernard Bresslaw. Cabby is the first film of the series to be written by Talbot Rothwell who took two weeks to complete the script.

Stars: Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Hattie Jacques, Charles Hawtrey, Bernard Bresslaw, Terry Scott, Peter Butterworth, Frankie Howerd, Kenneth Connor, Wendy Richard, Joan Sims, Valerie Leon and more. As the two biggest hits of the series and the two biggest films of their year from any source at the UK box office, it is amazing they haven't been upgraded. It featured the highest number of Carry On regulars, with only Jim Dale and Terry Scott missing from the core cast. To say nothing of the legal minefield with Carry On Columbus, leaving it not even officially released on DVD, a grey-area Australian one about the only option. The rights to their work have been all over the place, and could explain why all copies (rental, retail, TV, etc) have come from exactly the same 4:3 tape master, rather than anyone being able to strike new ones. The titles are: 'Carry On Sergeant' (1958), 'Carry On Nurse' (1959), 'Carry On Teacher' (1959), 'Carry On Constable' (1960), 'Carry On Regardless' (1961), 'Carry On Cruising' (1962), 'Carry On Cabby' (1963), 'Carry On Jack' (1963), 'Carry On Spying' (1964), 'Carry On Cleo' (1964), 'Carry On Cowboy' (1965), 'Carry On Screaming!
